JOB SUMMARY:
The General Accounting Officer oversees the accurate recording, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions to ensure the integrity of the company's financial records and the timely preparation of statutory and management reports.The role supports financial decision-making by ensuring compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), tax regulations, internal controls, and company policies while coordinating accounting activities, supporting audits, supervising assigned personnel, and driving continuous improvements in accounting processes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Financial Accounting and General Ledger Management
- Oversee the recording, classification, and posting of financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
- Review journal entries, supporting schedules, and accounting documents prior to posting.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger by ensuring proper account classification and timely recording of transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of project costs, revenues, expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
- Validate compliance with company accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports and management schedules.
- Review financial statements and supporting reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Analyze financial information and identify unusual fluctuations or significant variances requiring management attention.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated reports and schedules required by management.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports within established reporting deadlines.
- Account Analysis and Reconciliation
- Perform detailed reconciliation of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Investigate outstanding balances, unreconciled items, and accounting discrepancies.
- Recommend and prepare adjusting journal entries when necessary.
- Monitor aging schedules and account balances to ensure completeness and validity.
- Maintain complete reconciliation files and supporting documentation.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure completion of closing schedules and accounting entries within prescribed timelines.
- Verify completeness of accruals, provisions, depreciation, amortization, and adjusting entries.
- Review closing reports prior to submission to management.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Audit Coordination and Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and financial analyses required during internal and external audits.
- Coordinate audit requests and facilitate timely submission of documentary requirements.
- Resolve audit findings and implement corrective actions as required.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain audit-ready accounting records and documentation.
- Tax and Statutory Support
- Support the preparation of tax schedules and accounting records required for statutory reporting.
- Coordinate with the Tax Team regarding financial information necessary for tax filings.
- Ensure accounting records support tax compliance and regulatory submissions.
- Assist in responding to regulatory examinations and inquiries.
- Construction Bond Monitoring and Financial Review
- Review contractor financial proposals, bid securities, and supporting financial documents.
- Evaluate financial implications of project-related transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatments.
- Coordinate with project teams regarding financial documentation and project accounting requirements.
- Internal Controls and Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures throughout accounting operations.
- Identify process gaps, operational risks, and control weaknesses.
- Recommend improvements to accounting workflows, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Participate in system enhancements, ERP improvements, and accounting automation initiatives.
- Assist in developing accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
- Administrative and Special Projects
- Maintain organized accounting files and financial documentation.
- Assist in workload distribution, foster collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the department.
- Assist in financial studies, management presentations, and special assignments.
- Support cross-functional initiatives requiring accounting expertise.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties assigned by the General Accounting and Tax Head or Control Management Head.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an advantage but not required
- At least three (3) years of progressive experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, or general accounting; or
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience in internal or external audit with substantial exposure to financial reporting.
- Experience in the real estate, construction, or property development industry is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, PFRS, PAS, taxation, and General Ledger management.
- Proficient in financial reporting, account reconciliation, variance analysis, and internal controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP/accounting systems.
- Effective communication, documentation, and supervisory skills with keen attention to detail.
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Committed to continuous learning and process improvement.
- Promotes accuracy, compliance, and transparency in financial reporting.
- Amenable to being assigned in Ortigas Center, Pasig.
