Job description:
The Business Development Manager (FMCG) is responsible for developing new business opportunities, driving strategic market expansion, and strengthening the company’s global presence across key regions. This role requires strong experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, combined with international client or distributor management exposure.The ideal candidate understands global market dynamics, distribution models, pricing strategies, and category trends relevant to FMCG products.
SPECIFIC SKILLS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Business Growth- Identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities within local and international FMCG markets.
- Develop market-entry and growth strategies for specific countries or regions.
- Analyze category trends, competitor movements, retail landscapes, and consumer behavior.
- Lead feasibility studies for new product launches, export models, or regional expansions.
- Build and maintain relationships with international distributors, importers, retailers, and strategic partners.
- Manage negotiations on pricing, margins, trade terms, and promotional agreements.
- Handle crossborder communication and coordination across multiple markets and time zones.
- Ensure smooth alignment between production, logistics, export teams, and overseas partners.
- Oversee commercial plans including trade promotions, distribution targets, channel pricing, and category visibility.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to deliver targets in both domestic and export markets.
- Monitor sales performance, budgets, and KPIs for assigned markets and channels.
- Recommend tactical actions based on market feedback and performance trends.
- Track global FMCG trends, emerging markets, competitive innovation, and consumer insights.
- Research regulatory requirements, customs duties, and product registration for target export markets.
- Provide periodic market reports and recommendations to the leadership team.
- Work closely with Marketing for brand localization, packaging requirements, and product adaptation per market.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure production lead times and export timelines are met.
- Participate in international trade shows, exhibitions, and business missions to represent the company.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Business, or related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in FMCG business development, export sales, or strategic partnerships.
- Proven exposure to international markets, preferably in US, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe, or North America.
- Strong understanding of FMCG distribution models, retailer dynamics, pricing structures, and trade marketing.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales, market, and financial data.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
