Job Summary:

The Smelting Operations Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the smelting facility, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves supervising a team of operators, coordinating production schedules, and implementing best practices in smelting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:
  • Lead and supervise a team of smelting operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  1. Production Management:
  • Oversee daily smelting operations, ensuring production targets are met in accordance with established schedules.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
  1. Quality Control:
  • Monitor product quality throughout the smelting process, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to address quality issues and improve processes.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions, implementing best practices in smelting operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  1. Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, safety incidents, and quality control data.
  • Prepare and present reports on production performance to management.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments, including maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in smelting operations or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of smelting processes, equipment, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledgeable in process engineering tools such as SPC, Lean Management, and/or Six Sigma.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
