Bookkeeper
Role: Bookkeeper
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring timely processing of transactions. This role works closely with Operations and external Accounting, and safeguards data integrity across all finance-related tools.
Key responsibilities- Maintain the general ledger by recording and reconciling daily transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process supplier invoices and prepare payments.
- Issue customer invoices, track collections, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Prepare bank, e-wallet, and credit card reconciliations on a regular cadence.
- Track and categorize expenses and ensure proper documentation.
- Support payroll preparation by maintaining accurate timesheet and payroll inputs, as needed.
- Prepare routine financial reports.
- Cash position summary.
- Income and expense summaries by category.
- Aging reports for payables and receivables.
- Assist with month-end close.
- Accruals and prepayments support.
- Variance checks.
- Maintain closing checklist and supporting schedules.
- Support compliance and audit readiness.
- Maintain organized digital filing of receipts, invoices, and supporting documents.
- Assist with tax and statutory filings by providing complete and accurate schedules to external Accounting.
- Maintain and improve bookkeeping processes.
- Document workflows.
- Suggest controls and efficiencies.
- Help keep finance tools and records consistent.
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience in a small to mid-sized business.
- Working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
- Strong spreadsheet skills.
- High attention to detail, consistency, and follow-through.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience with accounting software and cloud-based bookkeeping workflows.
- Experience supporting inventory, COGS, or multi-location operations.
- Experience working with an external accountant or audit requirements.
- Reliable and deadline-oriented.
- Clear communicator who can explain discrepancies and next steps.
- Proactive about identifying missing documentation and closing gaps.
- Comfortable working with repeatable checklists and standard operating procedures.
