The Group Retail Manager(GRM) leads a sales team of 8-12 sales agents. This role is responsible not only for achieving monthly and quarterly sales targets but also for developing a motivated, customer-focused, and high-performing sales team. The GRM drives strategic sales initiatives, fosters strong customer relationships, and ensures operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Team Management- Lead, motivate, and develop a sales team of 10+ agents to consistently meet or exceed sales targets (regular, fleet, bidding).
- Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews to support continuous team development and career growth.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture, addressing conflicts promptly and maintaining high morale.
- Develop succession plans by identifying and nurturing high-potential agents for future leadership roles.
- Design and implement strategic sales plans to grow market share and adapt to evolving automotive industry trends and customer demands.
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities.
- Plan and execute promotional events, digital campaigns, and lead generation activities.
- Champion exceptional customer service standards across the sales process to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Oversee customer complaint resolution and after-sales follow-up to ensure a seamless ownership experience.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with key clients, including government agencies and fleet customers.
- Ensure all sales operations follow company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including accurate documentation and contract signing.
- Monitor sales processes such as test drives, reservations, trade-ins, invoicing, and insurance requests for timely and accurate execution.
- Maintain showroom presentation standards including cleanliness, organization, and availability of marketing materials and sales tools.
- Responsible for maintenance, security and upkeep demo units to the highest standards possible, or as prescribed by management.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) beyond sales volume, such as conversion rates, average sales per agent, and customer satisfaction scores, as well as nominated app and systems usage.
- Prepare and present regular sales performance reports and business reviews to senior management.
- Manage timely submission of sales commission forms and ensure transparent incentive programs.
- Utilize prescribed systems, sales tools/apps, and digital platforms to optimize lead management and sales pipeline visibility.
- Promote adoption of digital tools and technology within the team to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Work closely with Service, Finance, and Marketing departments to ensure alignment of sales activities and customer experience standards.
- Coordinate inventory planning with operations to meet sales demand and minimize stock issues.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Lead by example in professionalism, including adherence to dress code and conduct standards.
- Proven leadership experience managing sales teams, ideally in automotive retail or a related industry.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and analytical abilities with proficiency in sales data analysis and reporting.
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, digital sales tools, and marketing platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
