Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or specialization in hydropower systems is an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in hydropower or hydroelectric plant electro-mechanical engineering, including design, installation, or commissioning.
- Proven experience in the design and/or review of turbine-generator systems (Francis, Kaplan, Pelton), including associated auxiliaries.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) for preparation and review of detailed engineering drawings and layouts.
- Experience using engineering simulation and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB, Simulink) for performance evaluation and system optimization.
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, ASME, ISO) applicable to hydroelectric electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with project lifecycle phases, including feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating with civil, structural, and environmental engineers.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and hydraulic systems, including water flow behavior, head calculations, and turbine performance.
- Solid background in mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and vibration analysis.
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and grid synchronization.
- Expertise in electro-mechanical system integration, particularly turbine-generator units and their interaction with control and protection systems.
- Familiarity with hydro-mechanical equipment such as gates, valves, penstocks, intake structures, and lifting/hoisting systems.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, including SCADA, PLCs, and plant automation for monitoring and control.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for structural integrity and hydraulic performance assessment.
- Understanding of auxiliary systems such as cooling water systems, drainage and dewatering, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
- Knowledge of grid integration, load dispatch, and power system stability considerations for hydropower plants.
- Strong understanding of hydropower market dynamics, environmental considerations, and regulatory frameworks.
