Dental Billing Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Billing Specialist to manage and streamline our dental insurance billing processes. The ideal candidate will efficiently handle eligibility verification, benefits retrieval, claim submissions, payment posting, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of dental practice management systems and insurance policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits accurately through insurance portals and telephone communication.
• Accurately enter patient eligibility and insurance benefit details into dental practice management software.
• Prepare and submit dental claims electronically, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.
• Generate and submit necessary attachments, including dental x-rays and clinical documentation, to support claim processing.
• Retrieve and review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents from insurance companies.
• Post insurance payments accurately into patient accounts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dental insurance policies, procedures, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with insurance companies, patients, and dental office staff to resolve billing issues.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in dental billing, insurance verification, and claim submission.
• Familiarity with dental practice management systems, including Dentrix, Eagle soft, Open Dental, or Planet DDS.
• Experience with dental imaging systems and attaching clinical documentation to claims.
• Strong understanding of dental insurance procedures, coding, and billing regulations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.

Preferred Skills but not required:

• Certification or additional training in dental billing and coding.
• Prior experience in payment reconciliation and accounts receivable management.
