Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex projects from initiation through closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while effectively coordinating cross-functional teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and mitigating risks.
Critical Work Functions & Key Tasks
Project Planning & Initiation- Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation
- Define project scope and objectives in collaboration with stakeholders
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments
- Establish project governance and approval processes
- Assemble and lead cross-functional project teams
- Clearly communicate project goals, roles, and responsibilities
- Manage stakeholder expectations through regular updates and meetings
- Facilitate effective collaboration between team members and stakeholders
- Oversee day-to-day project activities to ensure adherence to plans
- Track project progress against milestones and deadlines
- Manage project budgets and control costs
- Identify and resolve issues or obstacles promptly
- Adjust project plans as needed to meet objectives
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Monitor and respond to risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Escalate critical issues to senior management when required
- Document lessons learned for continuous improvement
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and organizational policies
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements
- Prepare and deliver regular project status reports
- Maintain clear and consistent communication channels
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders, team members, and sponsors
- Document project progress, decisions, and change requests
- Ensure all deliverables are completed and approved
- Conduct project closeout meetings and prepare final reports
- Document lessons learned and best practices
- Transition project outputs to operational teams
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience, managing complex projects
- Project Management certification or equivalent is preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to project challenges
