Role description:

Purpose The General Accounting Manager II plays a key lead role in empowering and guiding the GSSC team towards achieving organizational goals. This position involves facilitating effective coordination, making informed decisions, and driving continuous improvement within the designated area of responsibility.

By fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and growth, the General Accounting Manager II contributes to the overall success of the GSSC and the organization.

Role accountabilities:

Process Delivery
  • Process scope may include the following areas, depending on the assigned function (not exhaustive):
  1. Month end close and financial reporting
  2. Lease accounting
  3. Balance sheet control
  4. Treasury accounting
  5. Intercompany
  6. Supporting internal and external audit
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships to ensure alignment with SLAs and optimal service delivery.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders, understand their needs and concerns and effectively addressing them.
  • Present regular reports on service level performance to senior management, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and recommendations for enhancing overall service quality.
  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating risks across processes and systems, implementing proactive measures, and proposing innovative solutions to enhance operations.
  • Managing resources, such as staffing, technology, and tools, to support smooth process delivery by identifying and addressing any resource gaps or constraints that may impact efficiency or effectiveness.
  • Should be accessible and responsive, promoting a sense of trust and accountability.
People
  • Align performance expectations with the organizational goals, assess employee performance, provide feedback, and take corrective action as needed to drive goal achievement and results.
  • Provide appropriate training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team members, ensuring their continuous growth and effectiveness in their roles.
  • Ensure fair distribution of resources and optimize utilization.
  • Accountable for providing timely and accurate information, actively listening to their employees, and addressing any concerns or issues raised.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, teamwork, and motivation.
  • Encourage open communication, resolving conflicts, and promoting a culture of mutual support and respect.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members to support their professional development and help them overcome challenges they may face in their roles.
Process Design
  • Support creation and development of comprehensive proposals, policies, and processes to meet the requirements of various accounting tasks and projects, while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and internal control guidelines
  • Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, and propose relevant changes into policies and procedures as needed.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented policies, processes, controls, and tools, and make recommendations for further enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • CPA or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline, preferred.
  • At least 8 years of related experience required, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis, with strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Strong analytic skills and experience working with Oracle as Arcadis’ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to manage and motivate a team that includes specialized roles.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and lead change initiatives within the function.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication and relationship-building strategies accordingly which includes recognizing and appreciating cultural differences to foster inclusivity and collaboration among team members.
  • Established proficiency in nurturing strong professional relationship with stakeholders, such as senior management, finance teams, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Empathetic, approachable, and able to maintain a positive and supportive attitude towards team members and stakeholders.
