Tax Accountant

Job Title: Tax Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing compliance and accounting tasks for clients with medium to complex tax requirements across a variety of industries and business structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships, Trusts, and Companies
• Prepare end-of-financial-year working papers and supporting documentation
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST, PAYG Withholding, and PAYG Instalments compliance
• Assist in the preparation of periodic management reports with analysis of business performance and key insights
• Provide tax, business, and financial advisory support to clients, including handling ad hoc queries
• Mentor and support junior team members in both technical and non-technical areas
• Ensure accurate and efficient use of accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, and QuickBooks Online
• Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
• Manage assigned workload and client deliverables with minimal supervision
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Meet performance targets including efficiency, utilisation, and recoverability KPIs

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong experience in taxation and financial reporting
• Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB, Xero, QBO)
• Strong understanding of Australian or similar tax compliance frameworks (preferred)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
