Accounting Bookkeeper

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions and accounting records.
  • Process hospital billing, patient payments, insurance reimbursements, and supplier invoices.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Reconcile bank statements, cash collections, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in payroll preparation and employee reimbursement processing.
  • Monitor and track departmental expenses and budgets.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-related financial information.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing financial records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, hospital policies, and government regulations.
  • Assist the Finance Manager or Chief Accountant with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a hospital, healthcare facility, medical center, or healthcare-related organization.
  • Experience handling hospital billing, insurance claims, patient accounts, and healthcare financial transactions is an advantage.
  • Experience using accounting software and hospital information systems is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and patient information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare accounting and hospital financial operations.
  • Familiarity with insurance claims processing and healthcare reimbursement procedures.
  • Knowledge of government reporting and healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Certified Bookkeeper or other accounting certification is an advantage.
