Senior Accountant
MAJOR FUNCTION
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the Company's general accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records and reports. The position reviews the work of the Junior Accountant, coordinates the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process, and assists the Chief Financial Officer in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, audit, and implementation of internal controls.
The Senior Accountant serves as the technical lead of the Accounting Department by ensuring compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), applicable tax laws, SEC, BIR, PSE, and other regulatory requirements, while providing guidance and direction to the Junior Accountant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DAILY- Review journal entries prepared by the Junior Accountant.
- Review payment vouchers, journal vouchers, and accounting entries.
- Monitor General Ledger balances and investigate unusual transactions.
- Review accounting schedules and subsidiary ledgers.
- Ensure proper recording of accounting transactions.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to the Junior Accountant.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding accounting concerns.
- Review accounting documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform other duties assigned by the CFO.
- Review General Ledger balances and account movements.
- Discuss outstanding accounting issues with the CFO.
- Review aging schedules and reconciliation status.
- Monitor completion of accounting tasks assigned to the Junior Accountant.
- Lead the month-end closing process.
- Review adjusting journal entries, including:
- Accruals
- Prepayments
- Depreciation
- Amortization
- Reclassification entries
- Review all General Ledger reconciliations.
- Review subsidiary ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and review:
- Balance Sheet
- Income Statement
- Cash Flow Statement
- Supporting schedules
- Perform Balance Sheet account analysis and reconciliations.
- Analyze financial statement variances and prepare explanations.
- Review fixed asset schedules and depreciation.
- Monitor budget versus actual performance.
- Prepare management financial reports for the CFO.
- Ensure compliance with monthly tax requirements and supporting schedules.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements.
- Review quarterly tax schedules, including income tax computations.
- Prepare financial analyses for management.
- Assist the CFO in preparing Board and management reports.
- Review compliance schedules and quarterly regulatory requirements.
- Lead the year-end closing process.
- Prepare the complete Annual Financial Statements.
- Prepare Notes to Financial Statements.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents.
- Coordinate directly with external auditors.
- Resolve audit findings and audit queries.
- Review regulatory reports before submission.
- Coordinate SEC, BIR, PSE, and other regulatory filings.
- Review annual inventory count and fixed asset verification.
- Assist the CFO in the annual budgeting process.
- Recommend improvements to accounting policies and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with PFRS, tax regulations, and company accounting policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
- Proven experience in SEC and PSE compliance.
- Knowledgeable in Data Management, Billing, and DMIC.
- Capable of leading accounting functions and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
- Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
