JOB SUMMARY
The Cost Accounting Specialist will assist the Cost Accounting Manager in the development and monitoring of cost budgets and forecasts, tracking actual costs against budgeted amounts, and investigating variances to implement corrective actions promptly.This position is also responsible in the maintenance and updating of costing systems, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of cost data inputs. The specialist will also deep-dive in the manufacturing part of the business via data collection and validation on various cost components such as materials, labor, and overhead.
The role involves investigating variances between standard and actual costs, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective measures to improve cost accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in budget preparation, cost monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Maintain costing systems and ensure accuracy of cost data and reporting.
- Collect, verify, and encode cost data related to materials, labor, and overhead.
- Investigate cost variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare cost reports, analyze trends, and suggest cost optimization strategies.
- Conduct product cost analysis and support standardization of manufacturing cost components.
- Allocate overhead costs accurately and review allocation methods regularly.
- Support profitability improvement initiatives through cost analysis and process improvements.
- Graduate of Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 3 years of finance or cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, costing methods, and financial analysis.
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Skilled in analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and accounting software.
- Strong communication, collaboration, time management, and business acumen.
- Demonstrates integrity, initiative, commitment, and willingness to work in challenging environments.
