Cost accountant
About the role
The Cost Accountant is responsible for developing accurate, data-driven cost models and financial projections for prospective projects. This role supports investment decisions by preparing detailed cost estimates, financial statements, and scenario analyses based on inputs from Project Development, Tenement, Operations, Engineering, and Sales & Marketing teams.The role requires strong analytical judgment to validate assumptions, identify inconsistencies, and proactively raise critical questions to ensure financial models reflect realistic operating conditions. The position also involves site visits to validate operational parameters and costing assumptions.
Job Description- Prepare and monitor cost reports (materials, labor, overhead).
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Maintain accurate cost records and inventory valuation.
- Coordinate with operations and finance teams for cost control.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, Management Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA is an advantage but not required
- At least 1–3 years of experience in: Cost accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or project costing
- Experience in construction, mining, quarrying, or heavy industries is highly preferred.
