Associate Counsel

For an Associate Counsel, the team is looking for a lawyer who has strong research and analytical skills. Ideally, someone with a strong understanding of or experience in commercial law, corporate law, tax and labor laws, including relevant regulations and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Represent the Company and its client in all legal and administrative proceedings before judicial and quasi-judicial agencies;
• Assist in conducting legal research and preparation of legal advice and/or memorandum for the Company and/or its clients;
• Assist in corporate housekeeping work like preparation of board resolutions, secretary's certificates, general information sheets, and basic contract management.
• Attend to meetings with clients, take an active part in the discussion and take minutes of the meetings, when the need arises;
• Draft legal documents including complaints, affidavits, corporate documents, notices to employees, briefs, appeals, wills, contracts and other legal agreements involving the company or its clients, as well as review all work prepared by the paralegal;
• Assist in the development of the competence of the legal department by circulating updates in the law, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other information that is relevant to the cases and issues handled by the Corporate Lawyer/Legal Department, as well as ensure that law library and resources are up-to-date.
• Maintain and organize the files, soft copies and all information accessible to the team relative to the Company and its clients;
• Accurately record and submit time spent on billable work for clients and assist in billing clients;
• Assist in supervising the paralegals and liaison officers to ensure timely signing, filing, submissions or delivery of legal documents, as well as accuracy in the recording of their respective timesheets;
• Other related tasks that may be required from time to time.

Minimum qualifications:

• Must be a Juris Doctor or LLB graduate
• Must be a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), with up to date MCLE Compliance
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Good communication, both verbal and written
• Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software

Preferred qualifications:

• With critical thinking skills and negotiation skills
• Significant experience working in a supervisory role, for at least one year
