The Role
As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the monthly financial close, reporting, and forecast processes for the S&P SPDJI Commercial Finance Team. You will be responsible for aggregating financial data, preparing, and distributing key reports, updating business forecasts, and providing daily accounting and operational support to the onshore Commercial Finance Team in New York.This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a specialized team focused on ETF and Mutual Fund revenue analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting- Prepare monthly journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Compile and distribute monthly financial results for Financial Analysis & Planning Managers.
- Generate additional monthly and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Support the Indices Quarterly Financial Review by drafting and providing necessary materials.
- Update monthly commentary files with actual results.
- Assist with invoice processing and address billing or contract inquiries related to ETF/Mutual Fund functions.
- Support client research and respond to information requests.
- Conduct quality assurance testing for automation and database projects.
- Perform historical revenue analyses and prepare ad-hoc revenue reports as needed.
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing required documentation, facilitating audit requests, and assisting with control testing and compliance requirements.
- Champion continuous process improvement to increase efficiency, leveraging automation and Centers of Excellence.
- Input key estimate updates into Anaplan/TM1 for ETF/Mutual Fund functions or natural class accounts, as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting or financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint, SmartView, Tableau, Anaplan, Alteryx, or Salesforce is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets, with a understanding of stock market fundamentals and key drivers of performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Oracle or similar financial systems preferred.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules.
