Financial Analyst

Job Objective/s

Reporting to the Finance Head, the Financial Analyst ensures that budget data are accurately consolidated and timely presented to Management for review and approval.

S/he provides Management with timely and accurate reports for each company under the MGEN Thermal and its subsidiaries. The Financial Analyst is also responsible for providing vital information for new projects and the like by providing the requisite financial analyses.

Provide important business information and support ad-hoc reports as directed by management.

1. Budget Preparation and Consolidation

• Prepare budget guidelines and implementation procedures as approved by Management.
• Prepare macroeconomic assumptions to be used for the budget cycle.
• Conducts site plant visits to kick-off the budget review process and to carry out budget review.
• Create financial model geared to specific power plant technologyo Consolidates, on a per plant basis, all budget data and information provided by finance staff.

1. Monthly actual vs budget report preparation

• Prepares monthly variance analyses and consolidates monthly management reports for each company/plant.
• Monitors plant performance against targets set by management.

1. Operating expense report per company

• Analyze the operating expenses for each company/plant.
• Computes for the equivalent cost per P/kWh of the operating expenses.

1. Latest estimates or budget reforecast as required by the Management

• Prepare an updated forecast based on the current facts and circumstances.

1. Review and monitoring of budget realignment and expenditure proposals

• Evaluate request expenditures and budget to be realigned to other expenses and cost centers.

1. Financial valuation and analyses

• Conducts various financial analyses like valuation, due diligence work, tariff structuring and analysis, rate and formula review

1. Preparation of regulatory requirements

• Financial forecast for application and renewal of Certificate of Compliance to Energy Regulatory Commission
• Schedule of liabilities for submission of Certificate of Endorsement to Department of Energy
• Financing Plan and Program to Comply
• Justification of tariffs to Energy Regulatory Commission

1. Monitor compliance with the lenders.

• Calculation of financial ratios like dscr, debt-quity, and others.

1. Other Related Tasks

• Computation of SLA charges per company.
• Proposal of dividend pay-out.
• Provide profitability analysis per company.
• Provides support for the monitoring, update, and creation of new Cost Center and Project Codes for the financial system.
• Provides Support to Insurance, BD and Commercial departments, as needed.
• Attends to other tasks/projects as assigned by the Finance and Controllership Head and Finance Head.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA/MBA preferred
• A minimum of 5 years work experience in corporate finance, accounting or in related field
• Knowledge with Microsoft Office applications (Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) with particular emphasis on MS Excel
• A good understanding of the principles of corporate finance, valuation techniques, and financial statement analysis
• Financial modelling experience and understanding of financial statements
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a team-oriented and challenging fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
• Can work with minimum supervision
