Position Overview
We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Technical Design Engineer with a strong background in architectural hardware and new product development (NPD). This role is ideal for someone with at least 5 years of experience in product design and engineering, particularly in hardware or related sectors.
The candidate should be able to independently generate factory-ready technical drawings, validate load-bearing aspects of their designs, and collaborate effectively with production teams for smooth handover to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities- Product Design & Engineering
- Create detailed CAD drawings and 3D models (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.) for new and existing architectural hardware products
- Ensure designs meet structural, functional, and aesthetic standards
- Conduct basic load-bearing and stress analysis to validate design strength
- Design with consideration for cost-effective manufacturing, including casting, stamping, CNC machining, and other relevant processes
- New Product Development (NPD)
- Support the conceptualization, prototyping, and detailing of new product lines
- Translate product ideas into manufacturable technical designs and production-ready documentation
- Iterate on designs based on test feedback, feasibility checks, or customer inputs
- Technical Documentation & Factory Coordination
- Prepare and maintain assembly instructions, technical specifications, BOMs, and tolerance standards
- Serve as a key technical point of contact for factory teams, helping resolve design-related queries during production
- Ensure proper version control and drawing accuracy across all files
- Custom Order Engineering
- Create or adapt drawings for custom orders based on client-specific dimensions or configurations
- Ensure all custom solutions are engineered with sound load distribution and installation feasibility
- Support client-facing teams with any technical clarifications needed during sales or execution phases
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Design Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Design Engineer in architectural hardware, metalwork, furniture, or related manufacturing fields
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar CAD tools
- Strong understanding of structural loads, support systems, and mechanical connections
- Familiarity with metal, glass, and wood fabrication techniques
- Excellent communication (English) and documentation skills
- Highly organized, reliable, and solution-oriented
- Hands-on experience with new product development (NPD)
- Prior experience with custom fabrication and manufacturing coordination
- Exposure to client communication or technical support in a hardware/product environment
- Ability to work independently with remote teams and across time zones
