Access Healthcare is current looking for Healthcare Collections Specialist with experience in Patient Self-Pay accounts.
This role is responsible for managing outbound and inbound calls, negotiating payment plans, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances directly from patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare billing and insurance coordination, and must be able to communicate with patients in a respectful, empathetic, and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a high volume of outgoing and incoming calls regarding patient balances.
- Review patient accounts to determine outstanding balances, insurance payments, and patient responsibility.
- Educate patients on their balance, payment options, and financial assistance programs.
- Set up and monitor payment arrangements in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all communications and payment arrangements.
- Resolve billing inquiries and disputes in a timely and courteous manner.
- Work collaboratively with internal billing and insurance departments to reconcile accounts.
Requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience in patient collections, medical billing with a focus on self-pay accounts.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare billing practices.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Experience using electronic health records or practice management systems
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
