Job Purpose:
The Financial Controller is responsible for executing day-to-day accounting activities related to general ledger management. This position will play a critical role in setting up general ledger procedures, documenting workflows, and supporting a scalable foundation for future finance operations.The Financial Controller ensures timely and accurate financial postings, reconciliations, and support for month-end and year-end closing activities in compliance with regulations and international accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Setup & Improvement:
- Develop and document general ledger processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures for the Manila offshoring setup.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure GL practices are aligned with company policies and local regulations.
GL Accounting Operations:
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Support intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Closing & Reporting:
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Coordinate with onshore teams to ensure alignment and completeness of financial data.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all financial activities adhere to IFRS and accounting standards.
- Support tax, VAT, and audit processes by preparing and organizing relevant documentation.
- Follow all internal controls, approvals, and financial compliance procedures.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Finance Director and other finance functions such as Accounts Payable and FP&A.
- Respond to queries from onshore finance teams and external auditors.
- Participate in process improvement and standardization initiatives.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or similar professional qualification.
- 10+ years of experience in general ledger or financial accounting.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint ERP system is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) or project-based industries is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
