Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Role Summary

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of plant equipment and facilities. The role leads maintenance operations, drives preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, manages engineering projects, and ensures compliance with engineering, safety, and environmental standards while developing a highly competent technical team.

1. Technical & Engineering Competency

• Demonstrates strong understanding of plant engineering, equipment maintenance, and manufacturing processes
• Applies engineering best practices in maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and system improvements
• Evaluates equipment life cycles to determine appropriate preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
• Ensures compliance with engineering standards, corporate guidelines, and management systems

1. Operational Excellence & Execution

• Plans and executes maintenance activities to minimize downtime and production disruption
• Ensures quality workmanship in all repair and maintenance activities to prevent rework and recurring failures
• Analyzes downtime data and equipment history to identify root causes and corrective actions
• Delivers projects and maintenance programs on time and within scope

1. Safety, Health, Environment & Compliance (SHE / EHS)

• Ensures safe operation of plant and equipment in compliance with EHS and regulatory requirements
• Implements proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and wastes
• Leads initiatives that reduce environmental impact and improve environmental performance
• Promotes a culture of safety and compliance within the engineering and maintenance teams

1. Leadership & People Management

• Leads, coaches, and develops technicians and engineers to achieve high performance
• Validates work output of team members to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness
• Identifies skill gaps and ensures continuous capability development through training and workshops
• Builds accountability, discipline, and teamwork within the department

1. Planning, Budgeting & Resource Management

• Develops and manages the Annual Preventive Maintenance Program
• Prepares and controls budgets for capital expenditures and repair & maintenance costs
• Optimizes use of manpower, spare parts, and tools to balance cost and operational efficiency
• Ensures availability of critical spare parts to support rapid repair and reduced downtime

1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Initiates and manages engineering and maintenance improvement projects
• Leads testing, commissioning, and turnover of new or modified equipment and facilities
• Identifies opportunities for innovation that support equipment reliability and business sustainability
• Implements improvement initiatives aligned with operational and environmental goals

1. Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

• Coordinates closely with Manufacturing and Operations leadership to align engineering priorities
• Communicates technical issues, risks, and improvement opportunities clearly and effectively
• Provides regular progress, status, and completion reports for maintenance and engineering projects
• Incorporates operational feedback into practical, cost-effective engineering solutions

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
• 5–10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or process industry
• Proven exposure at Supervisory to Managerial level
• Strong analytical, leadership, and execution capabilities
