Purchasing Officer
About the role
We are seeking a Purchasing Officer to join LEC Steel Manufacturing Corp. in Quezon City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our manufacturing operations through effective procurement management and supplier relationship development.As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and services that are essential to our steel manufacturing processes. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our operational efficiency, cost management, and supply chain reliability.
Key responsibilities- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for raw materials, components, and services required for steel manufacturing operations
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, pricing, and delivery timelines
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and quality commitments
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock management
- Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and address any supply chain delays
- Maintain detailed records of suppliers, pricing, and procurement activities for audit and compliance purposes
- Communicate with internal stakeholders including production, finance, and management to understand procurement requirements and provide updates
- Assess supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost metrics, and prepare reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry regulations throughout the purchasing process
- A qualification in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Procurement, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or industrial settings
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory control practices
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with procurement or ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify supply chain challenges and develop practical solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and management
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple purchase orders and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of steel industry materials and manufacturing processes is advantageous
- Professional certification such as APICS CPIM or similar procurement qualification is preferred but not essential
