Network Support Engineer (IP/Ethernet)

NETWORK SUPPORT ENGINEER (IP/ETHERNET)

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Network planning and design
• Capacity management
• Fiber optic cable installation and troubleshooting
• Maintenance and repair of fiber systems
• Vendor management for fiber leases
• Path analysis and route optimization
• Field testing and validation
• Compliance with industry standards (e.g., ITU-T, IEEE, ANSI)
• Incident response and outage resolution
• Cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams
• Troubleshoot the service to identify the most appropriate resolution path.
• Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as Network Engineer, Network Technician or relevant position for at least 3 years.
• Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills.

Prior experience/knowledge on the following:

• Fiber optic networks
• DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
• OTN (Optical Transport Network)
• Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking
• Network topology design
• Fiber characterization (OTDR, insertion loss, reflectance)
• Dark fiber provisioning
• SDN (Software-Defined Networking)
• Ethernet and IP/MPLS
• Network protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, etc.)
• Circuit provisioning and grooming
• RF over fiber
• Transmission systems engineering

Certification/s in any of the following:

• Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Optical Network Certification (ONF-Certified SDN Associate)
• JNCIA-Junos (for Juniper networks)

Prior experience in any of the tools/software below:

• Network management systems (NMS)
• GIS tools for fiber mapping
• Fiber splicing tools
• Performance monitoring tools
• Test equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters)
• CAD tools for network planning
• Network simulation software
• Amenable to work night shift / US hours, including holidays and overtime
• Amenable to work in Alabang, Muntinlupa City once work in office resumes.
