Planner/ Estimator

Prepares work specifications and estimates for marine structural support type work, initiates procurement actions for material and contractor services, requests engineering services when needed and maintains liaison with Production Department Groups as to job progress and the solution of problems developing with issue material lists, job orders and work specifications.

1. 0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
2. 1 Prepares detailed job orders for maintenance, repair and alteration of ships, craft and other requesting activities.
3. 2 Develops material requirements by determining quantity and types of material required for each job; prepares appropriate material lists.
4. 3 Conduct ship checks/ inspections.
5. 4 Conducts analysis of work to be accomplished in terms of accepted trade standards and practices, applicable specifications and drawing / sketches.
6. 5 Prepares comprehensive work packages.
7. 6 Assigns work to work centers/shops in the most efficient job sequence.
8. 7 Develops estimates of total manhour requirements and labor costs by shop.
9. 8 Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least Graduate any engineering related courses. With training in marine structural, electrical or mechanical trades.
