Job Description:
- Proactively monitor the status of networks, servers, firewalls, routers, switches, cloud services, and other critical infrastructure using NOC monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
- Quickly detect, identify, and acknowledge system alerts and alarms across multiple environments and platforms
- Perform initial fault analysis and diagnosis for network outages, system degradations, application alerts, and other service-impacting events
- Determine severity, potential impact, and appropriate next actions based on standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Log, categorise, and prioritise incidents and service requests in the ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, ConnectWise, Jira Service Desk)
- Escalate unresolved or high-severity incidents to Level 2/3 NOC Engineers, Network Engineers, or appropriate support teams according to predefined escalation processes
- Conduct routine network health checks, system validations, and status reporting at specified intervals
- Support with planned maintenance windows, including monitoring, logging, and confirming post-maintenance service restoration
- Assist in basic configuration tasks, password resets, access management requests, or backup verifications under supervision
- Record detailed and accurate information for each incident or event, including time stamps, fault details, troubleshooting steps, outcomes, and escalations
- Prepare shift handover reports to ensure clear communication between operational teams
- Maintain and update knowledge base articles, runbooks, and procedural documentation as required
- Provide clear, timely, and professional updates to internal teams, external clients, vendors, and management as per communication protocols
Qualification and requirements (Essential):
- Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, routing, and switching
- Understanding of server environments (Windows Server, Linux) and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and ticketing tools
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Willingness to participate in shift rotations, including weekends, public holidays, and after-hours on-call support
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a NOC, technical support, or IT helpdesk role
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA (in progress or completed)
- Basic knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, and change management)
