Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation Assistance:
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and basic food items based on standard recipes and instructions.
  • Wash, peel, chop, and measure ingredients as needed for meal preparations.
  • Kitchen Cleanliness & Organization:
  • Ensure cleanliness of work areas, counters, and food preparation surfaces at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, following proper cleaning schedules.
  • Properly dispose of waste, separating recycling and garbage, and ensure trash bins are emptied regularly.
  • Dishwashing & Equipment Maintenance:
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Ensure the proper cleaning and storage of kitchen utensils, cutlery, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of kitchen appliances and equipment.
  • Inventory Management Support:
  • Help with the organization and maintenance of stock, ensuring proper storage of food items at appropriate temperatures.
  • Assist with inventory counts and alert the management about low stock levels to ensure timely reordering.
  • Adherence to Safety and Hygiene Standards:
  • Follow safety protocols when handling kitchen equipment and food products.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene practices, ensuring all prepared food meets high standards of quality.
  • Ensure sanitation standards are strictly followed for the kitchen, including regular hand washing, use of gloves, and adherence to the cafe's health policies.
  • Assisting Kitchen Staff:
  • Provide general support to kitchen staff by helping with the set-up and breakdown of kitchen operations.
  • Assist chefs and cooks during food preparation and service.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or in a food-related environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • A basic understanding of food safety and health regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
