- Educational & Professional Background
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE). A licensed Engineer is highly preferred for this role.
- Experience: At least 5–10 years of experience in the telecommunications or construction industry, with at least 3 years in a senior management or leadership role.
- Industry Track Record: Proven experience in TowerCo operations or as a contractor for major carriers (like Globe, Smart, or Dito).
- Technical Qualifications
- Project Lifecycle Knowledge: Expertise in the end-to-end process: Site Acquisition (SAQ), Permitting, Civil Works, Tower Erection, and Telecom Equipment Installation (TEI).
- Technical Standards: Familiarity with tower types (SST, Monopole, Rooftop) and the specific "accessories" (bushings, cable ladders, grounding kits, and lightning arresters).
- Safety Compliance: Certified in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). Since your company builds towers, the GM must understand the safety protocols for "working at heights" and heavy machinery.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of National Building Codes and local permitting requirements (CAAP height clearances, DENR, and Barangay/LGU clearances).
- Management & Leadership Skills
- Operations Oversight: Ability to manage multiple tower sites simultaneously across different locations.
- Subcontractor Management: Skills in vetting and supervising third-party crews for civil works (fencing, foundations) and electrical tapping.
- Budgeting (P&L): Competence in managing CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) and ensuring projects are completed without "over-runs" (going over budget).
- Negotiation: Ability to negotiate with landowners for site leases and with suppliers for raw materials like steel and cement.
- Technical Tools
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for budget tracking and computation.
- Project Management Tools: Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling software to track tower rollouts.
- Reporting: Ability to generate technical progress reports for stakeholders or clients.
