About the Role
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible to produce client’s equipment layout drawings to enable client’s customers to understand how to correctly erect and safely use the equipment for its intended purpose. Maintain a responsible attitude to the health and safety of self and others in accordance withclient’s legislative guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- To ensure all design solutions are produced in a practical, safe and economic way, in accordance with customer requirements relayed by our sales team and instructions from more senior design staff.
- All designs adequately indicate the safe use of equipment and contain notes that clearly define the basis of the design and the responsibilities of the customer.
- Consistent production of economic designs shown on clear and accurate drawings, maximizing commercial opportunities.
- Clear, comprehensive, adequate, efficient production of structural calculations
- All design work, drawings, quants and calculations must be produced with minimal errors. Preliminary designs can be issued without further checks and are the responsibility of the senior designer. Construction status drawings must be checked by another senior designer or above.
- A senior designer will be able to provide guidance, mentoring and training for design staff in the absence of the Design office Manager.
- Perform a checking function, to a high standard with design manager assistance where necessary.
- Maintain a responsible attitude to the health and safety of self and others in accordance withclient’s legislative guidelines.
- Assist in the management of the design office in the absence of design manager.
Key Competencies / Skills:
- Degree in Construction / Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of formwork / access design experience with good knowledge of formwork, shoring and access products
- 5 years AutoCAD design software experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer literate (MS Office) with a good understanding of Excel
- Static Analysis /Calculations skills
- Adherence to organizational policies and procedures
- Must possess strong problem solving, leadership and analytical skills.
