The Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock movements, conducting inventory audits, and ensuring inventory accuracy across all warehouse operations. The role works closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Logistics to ensure stock availability while minimizing inventory discrepancies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Management
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels in the ERP or Inventory Management System.
  • Ensure all stock transactions (receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and issuances) are properly recorded.
  • Track inventory movements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock aging, slow-moving, and obsolete inventories.
Inventory Control
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inventory counts.
  • Perform cycle counting according to the inventory schedule.
  • Reconcile physical inventory against system records.
  • Investigate inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Process inventory adjustments with proper approval.
Warehouse Coordination
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure proper stock handling.
  • Ensure correct storage, labeling, and organization of inventory.
  • Monitor FIFO/FEFO implementation where applicable.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing goods.

Reporting

Prepare inventory reports including:

  • Inventory accuracy
  • Stock management
  • Stock valuation
  • Fast-moving and slow-moving items
  • Out-of-stock items
  • Overstock items
  • Inventory variance reports
  • Provide inventory analysis to the immediate superior.
Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to company SOPs and inventory control procedures.
  • Safeguard company assets against loss, damage, or misuse.
  • Participate in internal and external inventory audits.
  • Recommend improvements to inventory processes.

Coordination

Work closely with:

  • Purchasing for replenishment planning.
  • Sales regarding product availability.
  • Warehouse for stock handling.
  • Logistics for inventory transfers.
Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or logistics.
  • Experience using ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and basic reporting).
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to conduct inventory audits even on Sundays.
