The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements in the country of assignment. This role manages end-to-end tax preparation, timely submission of statutory returns, and proactive liaison with relevant tax and regulatory authorities.
The Senior Tax Accountant also provides guidance on tax-related incentive programs, supports internal and external audits, and partners with the Finance team to optimize tax positions while maintaining strict regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of local tax frameworks, relevant regulatory bodies, and proven experience in multi-jurisdictional or incentive zone compliance.

This role may initially be assigned to support a single country and is expected to scale over time to cover multiple jurisdictions as the organization grows or as required by the business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Tax Compliance & Filing
  • Prepare, review, and file all required tax returns and reports in accordance with applicable local tax laws and statutory deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate computation and timely remittance of all taxes, including but not limited to income tax, withholding tax (expanded and final), value-added tax (VAT) / goods and services tax (GST), and other applicable local taxes.
  • Maintain complete and organized tax records, schedules, and supporting documentation for all filings.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation, rulings, and regulatory issuances, and assess their impact on the organization.
Regulatory Authority Liaison
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the relevant national tax authority and other government agencies (see Country-Specific Requirements below).
  • Manage tax audits, assessments, and inquiries; coordinate responses and documentation with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Obtain and maintain required tax certifications, registrations, and clearances (e.g., tax clearance certificates, BIR certificates of registration, DGT registrations, etc.).
Incentive Zone & Special Regime Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with the rules, reporting requirements, and obligations of applicable economic zone, free trade zone, or export promotion entities where the company holds registered status.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and declarations to relevant incentive zone administering bodies (see Country-Specific Requirements).
  • Monitor and track incentive entitlements, tax holidays, preferential rates, and conditions of registration to preserve eligibility.
  • Coordinate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure transaction flows comply with incentive zone requirements.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare current and deferred tax computations in accordance with applicable accounting standards (PFRS / IFRS / local GAAP as applicable).
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes with accurate tax provisions, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Analyze effective tax rate movements and provide explanations to management.
  • Assist in transfer pricing documentation and compliance where applicable.
Audit Support & Advisory
  • Support internal and external audit activities by providing complete tax workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities, and advise management on tax-efficient structures and planning strategies.
  • Liaise with external tax consultants, legal counsel, and advisors as needed.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Drive continuous improvement in tax compliance processes, controls, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate across departments and within the Finance function — including Finance Compliance, Global Controller, Accounting, Projects/Office of the CFO (oCFO), Legal, HR, and Operations — to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions and that cross-functional financial initiatives are supported with accurate and timely tax input.
  • Mentor and guide junior finance team members on tax-related matters.

Education

University Degree or College Diploma in Finance or Accounting is required

Experience
  • Holder of a valid Philippine CPA license
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Experience with account reconciliation and analysis
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting/tax experience; at least 2–3 years of direct experience working with BIR compliance and PEZA-registered companies (or comparable export zone experience).
  • Practical knowledge of the Philippine Tax Code, VAT and withholding tax rules, TRAIN law implications, BIR filing systems (eFPS/eBIR), and PEZA regulatory requirements and incentive mechanisms.
  • Experience handling BIR and PEZA audits and coordinating with government agencies and external auditors.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.) preferred.
  • Previous experience in the collection or financial industry would be an asset
