Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a growing multi-company business with both eCommerce and retail operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bookkeeping, financial management, Xero accounting software, Shopify, and eCommerce finance. This role will be responsible for managing multiple company entities, bank reconciliations, payroll coordination, VAT support, commission calculations, and financial reporting while working closely with external accountants and internal stakeholders.

This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities, maintain financial accuracy, and support business growth through strong financial controls and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Financial Management
  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records across multiple company entities
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance
  • Ensure proper allocation of expenses and overhead costs across business entities
  • Maintain accurate trial balances and financial records
Bank & Payment Reconciliations
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts across various entities
  • Manage reconciliations for digital payment platforms including:
  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • Shopify Payments
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Handle multi-currency transactions and reconciliations
Intercompany Accounting
  • Monitor and reconcile inter-company transactions and balances
  • Maintain accurate records of loans, recharges, and shared expenses
  • Ensure inter-company balances are properly reconciled at month-end
Payroll & Compliance Support
  • Coordinate payroll data and calculations for employees and contractors
  • Support VAT reporting and compliance requirements
  • Liaise with external accountants and tax professionals
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial information for compliance purposes
Sales Commission Administration
  • Analyze sales data and calculate commissions accurately
  • Maintain commission tracking records
  • Prepare commission reports for management review
Financial Reporting & Audit Support
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Prepare reports and supporting schedules
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors
  • Ensure financial documentation is complete and organized
Collaboration & Business Support
  • Work closely with internal finance and operations teams
  • Support financial planning and operational decision-making
  • Identify process improvements and financial efficiencies
  • Monitor financial risks and provide recommendations

Qualifications

Required
  • Minimum 5 years of Bookkeeping, Finance Management, or Accounting experience
  • Strong experience working with multiple company entities
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero Accounting Software
  • Experience with Shopify and eCommerce accounting
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting payroll and VAT processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred
  • 7–10+ years of bookkeeping or finance management experience
  • AAT Level 3 or Level 4 Qualification
  • Experience with group accounting and inter-company transactions
  • Experience supporting retail and eCommerce businesses
  • Experience with Stripe, PayPal, and Shopify Payments
  • CIMA or ACCA qualification (or working towards qualification)
  • Experience managing multi-currency transactions
