Heavy Equipment Technician

Job description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in heavy equipment and company vehicles.
• Repair and replace faulty wiring, harnesses, lighting systems, alternators, starters, batteries, and other electrical parts.
• Diagnose and repair electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, and computerized components.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Perform electrical upgrades and installations of accessories when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of electrical equipment.
• Coordinate with mechanics, supervisors, and operators regarding equipment conditions and needed repairs.
• Prepare job reports and maintenance documentation after every service performed.
• Monitor and manage inventory of electrical spare parts and consumables.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work area and tools.
• Attend training sessions and stay updated on modern diagnostic techniques and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Vocational Diploma/Technical Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as an electrician in heavy equipment and automotive maintenance.
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems in heavy machinery and vehicles.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and manuals.
• Familiarity with computerized diagnostics equipment.
• Physically fit and willing to work in field conditions.
