General Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly accomplishment reports as well as weekly productivity reports.
- Prepares and updates monitoring charts regularly.
- Issues non-conformance notices to domestic subcontractors for each non-conformance discovered.
- Assists the project team in ensuring good housekeeping within the project site.
- Ensures that the company’s safety and security program is properly implemented.
- Coordinates with the MEP Coordinator or MEP Engineer regarding the progress of works of the MEP contractors in relation to the concrete embedding.
- Reviews the structural and architectural plans as well as precast drawings.
- Reports discrepancies between architectural and structural plans to the Site Manager or TSG Head and shall monitor and follow-up the resolution of the problems or discrepancies.
- Obtains the necessary data (e.g., precast delivery, etc.) prior to scheduled concrete pouring.
- Coordinates the requisition, issuances, and the timely delivery of required materials on site.
- Obtains the necessary documents (e.g., IWR—Installation Work Request, CPR—Concrete Pouring Request) from the QAQC Department prior to concrete pouring.
- Performs quality assessment of formworks and concreting through daily observation and inspection.
- Recommends value engineering or cost-saving measures to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
- Prepares and submits necessary reports required by the Management.
- Fills up and updates the construction logbook daily.
- Coordinates with the warehouseman and general foreman to ensure that all materials and manpower are available on site prior to formworks installation.
- Computes the formworks requirements of the project and submits them to the Site Manager for validation.
- Conducts daily coordination with the formworks leadman and crew.
- Coordinates with TSG regarding the issuance of body plans and other pertinent drawings prior to work execution.
- Supervises the erection of scaffoldings and forms.
- Inspects formworks and precast works prior to concrete pouring.
- Coordinates with QAQC regarding the stripping of forms.
- Monitors progress of formworks stripping and reports potential delay in the formworks cycle due to stripping.
- Recommends if form material is already affecting concrete quality and needs to be replaced.
- Conducts regular inspection to evaluate the quality and integrity of formworks and precast and facilitates the corresponding adjustments at the site.
- Monitors the progress of formworks with respect to the construction cycle.
- Informs the Site Manager and Project Manager of potential delays in the general construction schedule.
- Issues correspondences to domestic subcontractors informing them of their delays.
- Computes and prepares volume projection of concrete for the entire project, concrete volume rebars, and balance to complete computation.
- Prepares the quantity of concrete for pouring area in advance.
- Responsible for the quality control of concreting; checks the following to ensure that it conforms to the specifications:
- Checks delivery receipts to ensure that the concrete received has the correct strength, contains the right amount of aggregate, and checks the time of batching and dispatching.
- Estimates the total volume of concrete needed as per schedule to prevent excess concrete.
- Ensures that the concrete received at the project site has correct slump and consistency.
- Monitors the progress of concreting activities and keeps a record for posting/tabulation.
- Prior to concreting operation, the Site Engineer shall:
- Check if the concrete pouring request is approved by the owner’s representative.
- Ensure that subcontractors have signed the pouring request.
- Ensure that the area for pouring has been certified by the Safety Officer as safe and conforms to safety standards.
- Ensure that proper batter boards are in place and all reference elevations are visible.
- Check the safety of all shoring and water tightness of forms.
- Ensure that vibrators, power trowel, bugles, shovel, float, and other tools are ready.
- Ensure all equipment (pumpcrete, placing boom, etc.) that will be used is in good working condition.
- Ensure that there is sufficient manpower to conduct the concrete pouring activity.
- Ensure that the proper fallback or alternative concreting method is ready in case of emergency.
- Conduct measurement of volume to be poured.
- Keep a record of actual concrete samples taken and schedule them for testing.
- Responsible for preparing the summary of concrete test results to be submitted to the owner’s representative.
- Conduct concrete toolbox meeting.
During concreting operation, the Site Engineer shall:
- Keep track of incoming deliveries.
- Check the quantity, quality, slump consistency, and method of handling of concrete.
- Monitor and evaluate actual pouring of concrete.
- Ensure that pouring is carried out according to the approved work plan.
- Ensure that the concrete is cast to the specified elevations and surface finish.
- Elevation is counter-checked by the Site Engineer along with the surveyor and QA/QC.
After concreting:
- All tools and equipment should be thoroughly cleaned. The surrounding structures and areas shall also be cleaned from laitance concrete.
- Post-concreting reports should be submitted after the concreting activity.
- Discover alternative solutions to solve cause of delay in target schedule and problems related to concreting works.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Skills Requirement
Educational Attainment:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Construction Engineering or any related field.
- Preferably licensed.
- Preferably with NC II in Scaffold Erection.
- Preferably with COSH or safety-related trainings.
Work Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience in construction or real estate industry.
- Experienced in formworks and concreting works.
Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of local regulations, codes, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and analyzing construction plans and drawings.
- Knowledgeable in formworks and concreting functions from main components to accessories.
