Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead core accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. This role will oversee reconciliations, month-end close, project cost accounting, and fixed asset management.

In addition, the Senior Accountant will drive cost analysis and implement process improvements to support business growth.

As a key partner to both the Finance and Operations teams, this role will provide valuable insights into project profitability, return on investment (ROI), and resource allocation.

Primary Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Compliance
  • Lead preparation and review of bank reconciliations across multiple entities (20+ accounts).
  • Manage and post prepaid entries (insurance and other expenses) and allocations across companies.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations (including accounts payable/receivable, intercompany, etc.) and variance analysis.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting (additions, disposals, depreciation, reconciliations).
  • Ensure consistent application of GAAP and adherence to internal control procedures.
  • Review and reconcile payroll entries, for accuracy in account coding.
  • Manage and post accrual entries (payroll, royalties, commissions, costs, etc.).
  • Perform Intercompany allocations between 5 plus companies for various transactions (revenue, project costs, insurance, expenses, etc.).
Project & Cost Accounting
  • Analyze and maintain operating and project costs, ensuring accurate coding to general ledger accounts and projects/customers.
  • Partner with operations to enhance project costing analysis and evaluate ROI on major initiatives.
  • Participate in implementing and maintaining cost accounting practices for labor, equipment, and consumables (allocation of costs per project).
  • Manage and enhance a Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule for Reconstruction projects, ensuring accurate revenue recognition.
  • Provide ongoing financial insights to management on project profitability, job costing, and resource efficiency.
Process Improvement & Leadership
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across accounting functions.
  • Support and guide junior accounting staff as needed, providing review and mentorship.
  • Assist with external audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, HR, and Management to resolve accounting issues.

Qualification and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and complex reconciliations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting.
  • ERP/accounting software proficiency (QuickBooks Online, Sage, or similar); advanced Excel required, Google Suite preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project cost accounting, WIP schedules, and ROI analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
  • A big plus is franchise accounting experience including royalties.

  • Demonstrated experience in project cost accounting, WIP schedules, and ROI analysis.
