ACADEMIC LEADER – CURRICULUM DEVELOPER
POSITION SUMMARY: The Curriculum Developer is responsible for designing, evaluating, and refining ESL instructional materials and academic programs that align with the school’s learning objectives and student needs. This role ensures that the curriculum supports diverse proficiency levels, promotes communicative competence, and reflects current best practices in language education.The Curriculum Developer collaborates closely with academic staff to maintain high-quality, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
- Collaborative Engagement: Consistently working in tandem with the head of education, senior leadership, academic faculty, and peers within the specialized program to promote a unified approach.
- Strategic Development: Crafting and executing strategic plans for school advancement, significant curricular or organizational reforms, and talent acquisition.
- Instructional Supervision: Overseeing the educational integrity of the program, addressing pedagogical concerns, fostering innovative teaching practices, and providing solutions to academic inquiries from students.
- Professional Growth: Actively pursuing ongoing professional development to navigate current and forthcoming challenges of the role, and engaging in performance management processes.
I. Curriculum Design and Development
- Create and update courses’ syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials
- Align curriculum with CEFR, TOEIC, IELTS, and other international standards
- Develop specialized modules for business English, test preparation, immersion, and working holiday programs
- Customize curriculum for different learner profiles (e.g., beginners, professionals)
- Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across levels and programs.
- Provide teachers with teaching guides, resource packs, and classroom strategies
- Conduct training sessions to ensure effective curriculum delivery
- Collaborate with Academic Leaders to address instructional challenges and student feedback
- Support new teacher onboarding with curriculum orientation and walkthroughs
- Assist the Assessment Specialist in designing placement tests and progress assessments
- Align assessments with learning outcomes and proficiency benchmarks
- Create rubrics for speaking, writing and project-based evaluations
- Analyze student performance data to inform curriculum improvements
- Review and revise curriculum based on teacher input, student needs, and global ESL trends
- Monitor classroom implementation and conduct periodic curriculum audits
- Maintain consistency across levels and programs while allowing flexibility for learner diversity
- Ensure compliance with school policies and accreditation standards
- Integrate technology, multimedia, and interactive tools into curriculum design
- Research emerging ESL methodologies and incorporate them into program development
- Recommend new programs or enhancements based on market demand and student goals
- Explore AI, gamification, and blended learning models for future curriculum integration
- Maintain a centralized curriculum archive with version control
- Prepare curriculum maps, pacing guides, and instructional calendars
- Submit monthly reports on curriculum updates, feedback, and implementation status
- Document feedback from teachers and students for continuous improvement
- Coordinate with the Assessment Team to align testing with curriculum goals
- Work with the Training Team to design teacher development programs
- Participate in academic planning meetings and contribute to strategic initiatives
- Respond to curriculum-related inquiries from teachers, advisors, and management
- Meeting Participation and Coordination: Actively participate in essential meetings, facilitating updates and discussions on pertinent issues.
- Compliance Surveillance: Oversee the adherence of teaching staff to educational standards, including lesson plan submissions, meeting participation, and regular evaluations.
- Communication with the Academic Head: Report significant or recurring issues to the Academic Head to maintain high standards and address potential concerns.
- Consistent Communication: Maintain active communication channels within the company and with external networks.
- Problem Resolution Involvement: Collaborate with the Academic Head to resolve instructional and compliance issues that could impact the program's integrity and student success.
- Ad Hoc Task Fulfillment: Execute additional duties as delegated by the Academic Head, Senior Academic Leaders, and Executive Management.
