Position Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement in production processes to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves conducting in-depth data analysis, troubleshooting, process design, and ensuring that all production processes meet regulatory and safety standards.

Additionally, the Process Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop training materials, standardize processes, and implement best practices across the organization.

Process Improvement & Production Support
  • Monitor and sustain production lines to minimize machine downtime and ensure efficient processes.
  • Perform regular machine and equipment setup, adjustments, and parameter optimization.
  • Identify root causes of machine failures or process inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and oversee fixture repairs and maintain good condition of production tools (e.g., soldering fixtures, jigs, stencils, etc.).
  • Oversee the management of production-related tools, fixtures, and jigs, ensuring proper functioning and availability.
  • Conduct real-time monitoring of line performance and identify any issues or non-conformances.
  • Evaluate new process procedures and suggest improvements to increase productivity and product quality.
  • Lead and assist in trials for new models, processes, and equipment setup.
  • Support process simulations and the creation of new process flows to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement improvements based on process evaluation and feedback.
  • Analyze production data to identify defects, troubleshoot machine issues, and perform failure analysis.
  • Document all non-conformance (NG) incidents, including the root cause, corrective action, and results.
  • Collaborate with technicians to perform machine troubleshooting and repair of defective tools, jigs, or fixtures.
  • Generate and maintain reports on-line performance, troubleshooting efforts, and action plans.
  • Assist in the qualification of new machines, fixtures, and jigs for production use.
  • Perform qualification checks on tools, fixtures, and equipment prior to change model activities.
  • Ensure compliance with standards for machine setup and operation.
  • Support and lead activities related to change model setup, ensuring a smooth transition for production.
  • Perform machine setup for new model introductions, ensuring all machines, tools, and jigs are properly configured.
  • Monitor and control the trial run conditions for new models and provide real-time feedback to the team.
Team Management and Process Documentation
  • Supervise and assign tasks to technicians, ensuring proper scheduling and time management.
  • Provide guidance and support to technicians, especially during machine setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Lead technician training on new processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering Orders (EON), and any related reports.
  • Prepare daily turnover reports, detailing issues encountered, root cause analysis, actions taken, and improvements implemented.
  • Support in preparing engineering samples and assist in inventory management for engineering samples.
  • Ensure timely communication and reporting of process and machine performance to senior management.

Other Related Tasks:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Engineering team and ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist with special projects or initiatives related to Engineering team as needed.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in evaluating and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve machine issues, perform failure analysis, and ensure proper machine setup and maintenance.
  • Experience in supervising and providing guidance to technicians, including task assignment, training, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess production data, identify defects, and generate detailed reports on process performance and improvements.
  • Expertise in managing, qualifying, and maintaining production tools, fixtures, and equipment for smooth line operations.
  • Excellent skills in maintaining accurate process documentation, managing BOM and EON, and communicating effectively across teams and management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related fields).
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have experience in Molding set-up, preparation, and management.
  • Bending experience is needed but not a must.
  • Can handle technician and can make reports of any trouble encountered on daily basis.
  • Basic knowledge of 7 QC tools, process mapping, and defect investigation techniques.
  • Experience in a Japanese manufacturing company is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite and engineering software.
  • Licensed engineer is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with engineering change management and new model introduction processes.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
