Quality Test Engineer I

Job Description

The Quality Test Engineer I is an entry-level position in Quality Assurance that is responsible for learning QA methodologies and assisting in ensuring compliance.

Accountabilities:

• To understand product requirements and develop test plans, test cases, and test data
• Execute test scripts, analyze, and record results (manual and automated testing)
• Ensure that adequate test coverage is provided
• Identify defects/anomalies and investigate their root cause. Document and track these defects.
• Assist fellow team members in resolving technical issues
• Contribute to improving the QA process and quality standards
• Recommend improvements or corrections to developers or system analysts
• Work with Developers, Product Owners, Product Analysts and other test team members to complete testing tasks
• Ensure high quality and accuracy is maintained throughout the software release cycle
• Provide feedback to the development team and ensure the work is carried out in accordance with the schedule and the quality requirements
• Determine testing tools that can be implemented to aid QA and maximize testing coverage
• Undertake other duties

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have the following skills/characteristics:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1-2 years of Software Quality Testing
• experience
• 1-2 years of Software Quality Automation experience using Selenium WebDriver, Karate, Cucumber, or similar frameworks
• 1+ years of experience with CI systems including Github, JIRA, etc.
• Graduate of BS Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics or equivalent experience is required
• Ability to build medium to complex SQL queries to retrieve data from relational database (MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
• Experience or knowledge in Big Data / Data warehousing
• Logical, thorough, and task-focused, with an eye for detail, able to rapidly absorb and apply technical information
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with fellow team members and all levels of management
• Pragmatic, self-directed and self-disciplined
• Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, and across different time zones
• Has experience in using compare tools (files)
• Software development background and experience is a plus
• Experience with working on ETL is a plus
• Experience with working on XML & FLAT files is a plus
• Experience using Python programming language is a big plus
• Experience in using any defect management tool (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.)
• Experience with testing Web services and LINUX shell scripts is a plus
