Database Engineer

The ideal candidate will assist in creating, installing, configuring, and managing our Oracle databases, ensuring performance, security, and reliability. You will also support PostgreSQL and DB2 databases under the guidance of senior team members.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and configuration of Oracle databases, and support PostgreSQL and DB2 as needed.
• Support the creation and maintenance of documentation for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and DB2 database housekeeping and monitoring procedures.
• Help analyze and troubleshoot database issues, providing solutions primarily for Oracle and secondarily for PostgreSQL and DB2.
• Participate in database performance tuning and optimization activities under senior team supervision.
• Monitor database performance to ensure security, availability, and speed across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
• Assist with root cause analysis and incident management for database operations.
• Support participation in security audits and assist with implementing security improvements.
• Contribute to the on-call duty rotation, providing database support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in database administration, specifically Oracle, with exposure to PostgreSQL and DB2.
• Basic working knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL, and DB2 database technologies.
• Understanding of Database Design, Administration, and Management, primarily Oracle, with additional knowledge of PostgreSQL and DB2.
• Proficiency in database programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, SQL PL, and PLPGSQL.
• Experience in writing and optimizing queries, procedures, functions, packages, and triggers at a foundational level.
• Some exposure to query performance tuning and debugging database objects.
• Familiarity with data migration processes, including data mapping, conversion, and implementation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with eagerness to learn new database technologies.
• Effective communication skills and a strong team-oriented attitude.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience or knowledge in the financial industry or banking domain.
