Power BI Developer

Design, develop, and maintain reliable Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models to support IT management and decision making.
- Ensure all reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with the needs of IT leadership, including the CIO, Director of IT Operations, and Heads of Department.
- Implement and improve data models, DAX calculations, and visualisations to deliver clear and actionable insights.
- Work closely with IT leaders and departmental stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate business requirements into effective Power BI solutions.
- Facilitate discussions, workshops, and feedback sessions to refine and enhance reporting outputs.
- Apply proper data security and access controls within Power BI to protect sensitive information in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain clear and complete documentation for all Power BI solutions, including data sources, data models, calculations, and user guides.
- Follow and promote best practices in Power BI development, version control, and deployment.
- Monitor the performance and usage of Power BI reports and identify opportunities for improvement or automation.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Power BI within the IT team and the wider data group.
- Strong expertise in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, row level security, workspace and app publishing, and performance tuning for complex dashboards
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric and enterprise data platforms, including building semantic layers and curated datasets using Lakehouse, Warehouse, or Dataflows
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance, including GDPR, data privacy, audit readiness, and secure access controls for BI content
- Proven experience creating leadership ready reports for senior stakeholders, supporting both operational and strategic decision making
- Ability to produce and maintain clear BI documentation such as data sources, models, refresh schedules, and reporting standards
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Microsoft certifications such as Power BI Data Analyst or other relevant analytics certifications are preferred
- Formal training or experience in data visualisation, information design, and analytics security is an advantage
