Merchandiser/Butcher/Meat Cutter

About the role

Your expertise in meat cutting, preparation, and merchandising will directly impact customer satisfaction and the success of our meat department.

1. Cut, trim, and prepare various cuts of meat to meet quality standards and customer specifications
2. Operate and maintain meat cutting equipment and tools safely and efficiently
3. Ensure all meat products are properly stored at appropriate temperatures to maintain freshness and food safety
4. Display meat products in an attractive and organised manner to maximise sales appeal
5. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the meat cutting area, work surfaces, and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations
6. Label and price meat products accurately
7. Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management
8. Provide excellent customer service by answering product-related questions and fulfilling special requests
9. Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure products meet regulatory standards
10. Work collaboratively with team members to meet departmental goals and targets

1. Proven experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or in a similar role within the meat industry
2. Proficiency in using meat cutting equipment and knives safely and effectively
3. Strong knowledge of different meat cuts, grades, and preparation techniques
4. Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
5. Physical stamina and the ability to work in a cold environment for extended periods
6. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality product presentation
7. Strong organisational and time management skills
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
9. Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
10. Valid food handler certification or willingness to obtain one is preferred
