Systems Engineer III – EUC Enterprise Engineering
About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Engineer III to join our EUC Enterprise Engineering team at Elsevier.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting and enhancing our End User Computing infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering leads to drive key initiatives, solve complex technical challenges, and ensure our global teams have seamless, reliable access to business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Roadmap Execution: Assist Enterprise Engineering Leads with the execution and successful delivery of the EUC roadmap.
- Technical Escalation: Act as a primary point of escalation for complex technical issues and provide expert 3rd-line support to internal squads.
- Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship: Drive a shift-left culture within the team by mentoring peers and hosting engaging lunch-and-learn sessions.
- Service Excellence: Deliver business-critical support to internal customers while maintaining strict SLA adherence and high service quality.
- Infrastructure Delivery: Collaborate closely with squad leads and engineering leads to execute key infrastructure projects.
- Operational Support: Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting OCC/NOC escalations and providing after-hours support when required.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, providing technical updates and input on strategic initiatives.
- Flexibility: Work off-hours or travel occasionally based on project timelines and business requirements.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Excellent understanding of enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, Active Directory, and identity/authentication services.
- Networking & Monitoring: Hands-on experience with DNS and DHCP, along with solid working knowledge of SCOM for infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
- OS Expertise: Strong grasp of Windows Server environments; prior experience with Mac and Linux enterprise systems is a plus.
- Automation Mindset: Proven ability to identify automation opportunities, streamline workflows, and reduce manual overhead.
- Soft Skills: A self-starter with strong communication skills, stakeholder management capabilities, and a continuous improvement mindset.
