Senior Reporting Analyst – Monitoring & Dashboards

About the Role

The focus is half DevOps observability, half analytics & reporting—perfect for a data‑savvy engineer who loves visualising live operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define latency, throughput, error, and cost KPIs across Go XML services, CTG calls, and mainframe MSUs.
• Instrument Go and Java components with Prometheus client libraries; create custom exporters for CTG and CICS stats.

• Craft Grafana dashboards with templating, drill‑downs, and role‑based access.
• Write advanced PromQL recording rules and alerts, routing notifications to PagerDuty or Opsgenie.

• Use SQL (PostgreSQL, Redshift, Athena) to enrich metrics with business dimensions—cruise line, itinerary, region.
• Run ad‑hoc analyses to detect booking anomalies or capacity issues; summarise findings in executive‑friendly reports.

• Correlate Prometheus data with Dynatrace, Splunk logs, and SMF/RMF mainframe counters to pinpoint bottlenecks.
• Recommend scaling or optimisation actions based on trend analysis.

• Manage Prometheus retention and federation strategies (Cortex, Thanos).
• Document dashboards, PromQL conventions, and onboarding guides for future analysts.

• 5 + years in monitoring or analytics roles supporting high‑volume APIs or transaction systems.
• Expert Prometheus administration and fluent PromQL query writing.
• Proven Grafana dashboard creation—including alerts and data‑source blending.
• Strong SQL skills; able to join time‑series and relational data for deep dives.
• Experience instrumenting Go or Java apps; working knowledge of REST metrics endpoints.
• Scripting in Python or Bash for exporter automation and data wrangling.
• Clear English communication; comfortable presenting insights to US‑based stakeholders.

• Familiarity with mainframe performance records (SMF, RMF) and MSU cost analysis.
• Exposure to log stacks (ELK or Splunk) and distributed tracing (Jaeger, Tempo).
• Grafana Cloud, Loki, or OpenTelemetry experience.
• Background in travel or reservation‑system analytics.
