Safety Officer

Position Title: Safety Officer

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations. The role involves identifying hazards, conducting safety inspections, promoting safety awareness, and preventing workplace accidents and injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of work areas, equipment, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, regulations, and company standards.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and training programs for employees.
• Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety rules.
• Prepare and maintain safety reports, records, and documentation.
• Coordinate emergency response procedures, fire drills, and evacuation exercises.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
• Work closely with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture within the organization.
• Ensure that all safety permits, certifications, and licenses are up to date.

Qualifications:

• Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field is preferred.
• Certified Safety Officer (SO2, SO3, or SO4) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to conduct safety training and prepare reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Operations Manager, Project Manager, or Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager.

Work Environment:

May work in construction sites.
