The Purchasing Supervisor in the Food and Beverage industry is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services necessary for the daily operations of the company. This role ensures that all materials are purchased at the best possible price, quality, and delivery time, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
The Purchasing Supervisor also monitors inventory levels and collaborates with various departments to meet their supply needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Procurement Activities:
Oversee the daily operations of the purchasing department, ensuring timely and accurate procurement of food, beverages, equipment, and other supplies.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Coordinate with the warehouse and other departments to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Address any issues with suppliers, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and contract disputes.Regularly review supplier performance and make recommendations for changes if necessary.
Budget and Cost Control: Assist in the development of the purchasing budget and monitor adherence to it.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.Ensure that all purchasing activities align with the company’s financial goals.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and procurement regulations.
Prepare and submit regular reports on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance to management.Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and train the purchasing team.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow.Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the food and beverage industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficient in inventory management software and MS Office Suite.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
Attributes: Attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Strong leadership and team management skills.
