Accounting Manager (CPA)

Position Overview

You will navigate complex accounting issues, drive process optimizations, and lead a high-performing team of accounting professionals. This position is designed for a rigorous financial leader who thrives in a challenging environment and is capable of translating complex financial data into actionable executive insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting Ownership: Direct the preparation, review, and distribution of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict accordance with GAAP
• Technical Research: Proactively research and document complex technical accounting issues, drafting memorandums and guiding the organization on the financial impact of new accounting standards and complex transactions.
• Executive Delivery: Present financial packages and insightful variance analyses directly to the Comptroller and executive leadership team.

• Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors, managing the end-to-end audit process, fulfilling requests, and ensuring timely, seamless sign-offs.
• Internal Controls: Architect, implement, and rigorously maintain internal controls to safeguard corporate assets and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOX compliance, if applicable).
• Tax & Statutory Compliance: Oversee adherence to local, state, and federal tax regulations, coordinating with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders.

• Financial Modeling: Partner with the Comptroller to develop sophisticated budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning models that drive corporate decision-making.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and execute process improvements within the financial close cycle, leveraging automation and ERP system enhancements to reduce close times and increase data integrity.

• Talent Management: Mentor, challenge, and empower a team of senior and staff accountants, fostering a culture of continuous learning, rigorous standard-setting, and professional excellence.
• Performance Tracking: Set clear departmental KPIs, conduct regular performance evaluations, and optimize resource allocation within the accounting function.

• Credentials: CPA certification is strictly required.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred, in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in a managerial capacity.
• Technical Expertise: Deep, authoritative knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and regulatory standards.
• Systems Proficiency: Advanced command of enterprise-level ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and expert-level financial modeling capabilities in Microsoft Excel.
• Attributes: Exceptional executive-level communication skills, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to solve complex problems decisively under tight deadlines.
