The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. They play a crucial role in monitoring costs, budgeting, and financial reporting to support business operations in the food industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, reports, and records.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management and regulatory agencies.
  1. Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Process and verify invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements.
  • Manage collections and ensure timely payments from customers.
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  1. Budgeting & Cost Control
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor expenses, production costs, and operational budgets.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality and efficiency.
  1. Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, income tax, and payroll taxes.
  • Prepare and submit tax filings and reports as required by government agencies.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax laws.
  1. Inventory & Asset Management
  • Monitor inventory costs, wastage, and stock variances.
  • Assist in periodic stock audits and reconciliation.
  • Maintain records of fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization.
  1. Process Improvement & Internal Controls
  • Implement internal controls to prevent fraud, errors, and financial risks.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes for efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is an advantage but not required.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can work under pressure.
