WHAT IS A/AN SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN?

Are you passionate about technology and enjoy solving technical issues while delivering exceptional customer service? We are looking for a Service Desk Technician to provide reliable and responsive IT support to Byrnecut Group employees and contractors.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for technical assistance, ensuring users receive timely, professional, and effective support while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES?

As a Service Desk Technician, you will:

  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and IT-related issues.
  • Assist users with the installation, configuration, and operation of software applications.
  • Perform PC hardware setup, upgrades, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Deliver desktop and remote support to ensure minimal downtime for users.
  • Manage software installations, licensing, maintenance, and compliance audits.
  • Support telephone systems and company-issued mobile devices.
  • Test, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to improve IT services.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams regarding IT purchases and operational support.
  • Assist with the administration and support of:
  • Email systems
  • Virus and malware protection
  • Backup and recovery processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support requests and resolutions.
  • Perform other IT-related duties and projects as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Preferably holds a tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field, or possesses equivalent hands-on IT industry experience.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Service Desk, Help Desk, Desktop Support, or similar IT support role.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused with a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop technical skills.
