Architectural Drafter / CAD Technician

An Architectural Drafter (or CAD Technician) is a trained professional who uses AutoCAD (or similar software like Revit) to prepare detailed technical drawings and plans used in the design and construction of buildings. They translate architectural concepts and sketches into precise construction documents.

They work closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to develop plans for residential homes, commercial buildings, extensions, walls, structural details, and interior layouts. Their work ensures that designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.

Core Responsibilities:

• Create 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar software
• Interpret architectural sketches, concepts, and specifications
• Prepare layouts for walls, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to revise plans
• Ensure compliance with building codes and technical standards
• Maintain up-to-date project documentation

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education in architectural drafting, building design, or a related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (and optionally Revit or BIM tools)
• Knowledge of building construction methods and materials
• Strong attention to detail and spatial understanding
• Ability to read and produce technical drawings and blueprints
