Food Technologist is responsible for researching, developing, and improving food and beverage products, ensuring they are safe, nutritious, and meet quality standards. This role combines knowledge of food science, microbiology, and engineering to support the production of consistent and marketable food products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new food products and improve existing recipes for taste, texture, appearance, shelf-life, and nutritional value.
  • Conduct experiments to test for quality, safety, and compliance with food regulations (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, HACCP).
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., R&D, marketing, packaging) during product development.
  • Ensure the efficiency of food processing and packaging techniques.
  • Analyze raw ingredients and final products using lab equipment to detect contaminants, spoilage, or deviations from specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all formulations, trials, and evaluations.
  • Monitor and control production processes for consistency and efficiency.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends in ingredients, technologies, and regulations.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field (Master’s preferred for advanced roles).
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, laws, and labeling requirements.
  • Strong laboratory, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record-keeping ability.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with food processing equipment and software (e.g., LIMS, ERP).
  • Desirable Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Understanding of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Experience with product shelf-life testing and preservation methods.
