 A.  Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a retail, hardware, lumber, construction supplies, or similar business setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience handling accounting systems and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Accounts payable processing and financial documentation
  • Preparation of financial reports and maintenance of accounting records
  • Use of accounting systems and monitoring of financial transactions
  • Coordination with internal departments and external suppliers regarding finance-related concerns
  • Support in day-to-day accounting and finance operations
  • Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data and reports

 B.  Job Summary:

The Assistant Accounting Manager supports the Accounting Manager in handling the company’s day-to-day finance operations for a hardware, lumber, and construction supplies business. This role helps ensure that accounts payable, accounting records, and financial monitoring are handled accurately and on time, while also coordinating with other departments and external parties as needed.

It involves checking the completeness of financial documents, helping maintain accounting systems, and making sure routine accounting processes run smoothly so the team can stay on top of deadlines and reporting needs. The result is a more organized accounting function that supports accurate records, timely payments, and reliable financial control.

The position also plays an important role in preparing both internal and external financial reports that help management monitor the company’s performance and make informed decisions. By working closely with the Accounting Manager, finance staff, suppliers, and other internal teams, the Assistant Accounting Manager helps keep financial information consistent, updated, and easy to track.

The role supports better cash flow management, cleaner records, and stronger overall financial discipline across the company. The end result is dependable accounting support that contributes to the stability and growth of the business.

 C.  Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in handling daily finance operations with the Accounting Manager and finance team, to keep accounting activities organized, updated, and properly coordinated.
  • Manage accounts payable processing for suppliers, service providers, and related payables, working with purchasing and other internal departments, to ensure accurate and timely payment recording.
  • Maintain and review financial records with accounting staff and document custodians, to keep books complete, organized, and ready for reporting or audit checks.
  • Prepare internal financial reports for management and department heads, to provide clear and timely information that supports planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare external financial reports and required schedules with the Accounting Manager and other finance personnel, to ensure compliance with reporting requirements and company deadlines.
  • Monitor accounting systems and financial transactions with the accounting team and other concerned departments, to help maintain accurate records, proper controls, and smooth financial operations.
